They say not everything is for free so as no job is for free. It was on Thursday 17 MAY 2020 morning when I got a call from a friend of mine who stays on the Copperbelt phoned me about a certain job vacancy around there. Well it was a job for a certain company looking for drivers, myself and my friend had valid Zambian driving licenses. I took time to make sure I wrote the application in best order so that I can be picked I did attach everything that was requested for. In the evening the same day I rushed to the Copperbelt it was easy for me to get there because I used to stay in a nearby town there and I got there by bus then I reached around 18 : 46 and decided to spend the night at my friend’s place.

In the morning of 18 MAY 2020 we both rushed to submit our applications, when we got to the company and yes of course there was a notice about the job and I felt calm and chilled because the only thing that was rolling on my mind was “I have found a job” so when we entered there was a man at the front office so we spoke to him about the vacancy we saw on the notice board and we submitted our application but before we would go the man asked for our numbers and we did give him and that’s how we left. After that day I returned home. So I waited anxiously because we were told it wouldn’t take 3days to get a feed back because the vacancy was limited so that very same day after returning home, I received a phone call from a man who was claiming to be the supervisor of the company where I applied for a job, the person demanded for a certain amount of money to pay for me to get the job because he told me he was the supervisor.

At that moment I didn’t believe him and I had to hang up when I called my friend the same friend of mine, he told me the same story before I would say mine lucky enough he had some money so he decided to give it a try and so he negotiated with the same man who happened to have called him using the same number he called me on . After some few hours of waiting, the same man then called my friend on phone to come over and do tests that’s when I then realized I would have just listened to the man and sent him the money he requested for but it was too late and lucky enough my friend got the job. From that time I then began to believe that corruption is real and that’s how corruption won and I lost.
