I went to one of the Department of One of the Registration centres in Lusaka to have my lost NRC replaced, when I reached there, I was told to produce a police report which required me to pay a K54($2.71) before obtaining one from Zambia Police. I never managed to do so because I lost all my vital documents previous day. On my way out an officer told me to follow him and I did like he said, we ended up in an office with two other Women who had also lost their NRC’s and we were told to pay a K100.00($5.01) each and get our NRCs instantly, the other persons made the payments and I couldn’t due to poverty. I left the offices in disbelieve and went to look for a K54($2.71) for Police report instead. And this trend I have experienced though differently but at the same offices, poor people spend days at these offices just for them to get an NRC which is an entitlement meanwhile people with money spend minutes.
