I encountered corruption in a police post. I run a mobile money business and one of my employee’s lost money in what I thought were suspicious circumstances. Upon learning about the ‘loss’, I took my agent to the police and had him detained. His parents showed up a few hours later and reimbursed me. We agreed to have him released and engaged the police. To my surprise, the officer in-charge on the day walked me out of the police post and asked me to pay him a token of appreciation to have the agent released. I declined. The agent was later released. I walked away from the police post sickened by the fact that a law enforcement officer was perpetuating corruption on police premises.
